while digging out the old 1995 Bissette interview friday I came across something I haven't seen in fourteen years. When I was launching myself as a self-publisher, my mentor Dave Sim, for whom I retain enormous admiration, gave me eight pages at the back of each of two consecutive issues of Cerebus to show a preview. It was done very quickly as I was already throwing myself into the disciplined routine of getting it done and moving on quickly to the next job. I chose some neat upcoming pages from Bacchus and put a couple of myselves in there too, darting around pointing things out, and the wole thing finished with me coming face to face with Gull. Heh, that's cool. Which issues of CEREBUS were those?

Probably the 2nd best reason to keep old Cerebus issues despite owning the phone books is for all the great backups strips that would occasionally appear. (The 1st best reason being the often gorgeous covers and Gerhard's color work on them.) (The "Single Page" feature from the Cerebus Bi-weekly series is similarly useful.)

Unfortunately I've got them stowed and can't check them at the moment, but I think what Eddie's referencing here can be found in the 190s, corresponding to the 1995 time frame above.

I think it was #192, but you'd be disappointed if you were to seek it out specially. Much more rewarding would be the five single-pagers i drew in various issues of the bi-weekly. Each one had twenty tiny panels in which I told the life story of some nut job from history, including Beau Brummel, Jack Mytton and Caligula. The running title was 'Great wasters from History not counting Dave Sim"

ps. Not being bothered to haul out the file a second time, I found the above issue number in a great site in Which Guido Weisshahn has indexed all my stories and even one-pagers. It's linked in my sidebar=" His blather Elsewhere/Index of works"
However, He doesn't appear to have noted the Bi-weekly issues. they were, I am reminded by scanning his listings, reprinted in my 1992 'the Cheque, mate' from Fantagraphics, long out of print. I may have reprinted them again in Bacchus since i after a while i was grabbing at anything to fill pages, but I'd have to go through the whole pile since I have no memory of it.

They aired "From Hell" this week, this reminded me of that film, I was yet again recognized while at the Comic Con but how understand why, graphic novel fans must remember scenes frame by frame, you see when I was acting I was a tiny, thin dancer with a breast line that film larger than it was so I was casted in SF parts where I wore tiny little costumes, almost naked actually. I hated it! I wanted to be an actress, dreamed of playing Medea but casted in space tramp roles. Great stuff, by the way! I love your work!

Eddie, any hope of getting those tiny 20-panel lives reprinted? I love your takes on history and documentary, and they sound like a joy. Thanks for making great work. If the one-pagers aren't in anything recent, were they collected in something out of print I could eBay?
